An imperative for strategy execution is to have a steering committee which is an empowered, accountable body that steers execution. A completely on-the-ball, hands-on and kick-the-butt approach is necessary for ensuring that the steering committee is continually working towards driving results.
An interesting idea in a similar vein is proposed by Robert Kaplan who proposes the setting up of "the Office of Strategy management" in one of his interviews.
